Our Mission Statement

Community Care is a non-profit early education preschool &
childcare center that provides a safe, healthy, and enriching
environment for children.

Community Care is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. With the agency
Director/Administrator and staff, they guide the organization’s policies and financial outlook. They
have adopted the following Mission Statement for the organization:

provides a safe, healthy, and enriching environment for children.

Community Care began in 1974 as Community Care for Kids, Inc. Our agency developed out of a growing
need to serve working families. At that time, formal child care agencies were minimal. Over the
years, facilities changed and expanded. At one time, Community Care had Head Start programs,
respite services, and child care. In 1983 the name was changed to reflect the diverse needs they
were fulfilling.

Since 1985 Community Care has been located at its current home of 130 East Maple Avenue, the
former home of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. A registered historical landmark, the church has been
cared for to preserve its history. Our agency license capacity serves up to 75 children, ages 6 weeks
to 12 years. We accept funding from government sources to supplement low-income working families.
